Yes we were in sin city; not for the first time so knew what to expect, lol.
I have to say though, that I like Las Vegas even though I am not into the gambling.
It has lots of pros (and cons) ;
Pros
It’s HOT and DRY (as opposed to being warm and moist as it usually is on our west coast of BC)
It has so many beautiful buildings, themes and landscaping. We love to walk and always have to check out the new hotels and their environs.
My absolute fav hotel
is the Bellagio,
closely followed by
Caesar’s Palace(this photo is of the main lobby)
,
it’s neighbour , the brand new Palazzo
Paris hotel.
It’s a break from the everyday. It feels like going into a perpetual party and almost every person one chats with is in a good mood and friendly.
It’s an international destination. We meet people from all over the world .
The food is good, and usually is served in such huge portions that we can share them.
There are free events everywhere and of course, people watching is one of them. AMAZING what one sees in Vegas..lol
Cons
It’s HOT, and dry. Coming from a warm and moist environment, it usually takes us a while to acclimatize. The heat can be VERY exhausting but we are vetrans and make sure to take water with us everywhere as hydration is a MUST.
It’s NOISY. Ok it is only for a week and actually we noticed the first 4 days(Sunday to Wednesday) were quite mellow and when we had the most enjoyment. Once Thursday comes, so do the kids and party-ers…
It is SMOKY. This has gotten better as Nevada has passed some strict laws about smoking; thankfully!
Still it doesn’t stop people from smoking(sorry I am a non smoker and cavil at the second hand smoke being BLOWN into my face or vicinity)
So you can see that the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
Oh yes we had a wonderful thunder and lightning storm on Tuesday and got to see the fork lightning which we never get at home.
We stayed at the Flamingo (which is showing its age a tiny bit); it was VERY comfortable and has the delightful, “wildlife habitat”, in the back so we got to watch the LIVE flamingos and different breeds of ducks and birds.
Our room was on the 18th floor. One whole wall in the room is a window(floor to ceiling) and from it we had a gorgeous view of the mountains and the wildlife area(lots of palm trees and vegetation)
We had a great time!
