H had a really rough day today. He got a infection from a catheter they put in (to collect urine)
He didn’t know that it was attached to the bed and felt sick(from all the meds they were pumping into him) so tried to rush to the bathroom, pulling the catheter OUT in his haste…
OUCH.
Sorry if TMI but I was livid when I found out because he obviously wasn’t TOLD that the catheter was attached; in fact, he said he thought he could take it with him…
The nurse was upset but good gracious, I think she could have been more aware.
Anyhoo, he got a fever and they had to scramble to get anti biotics into him. Meanwhile the fever made him delirious. He was having to pee often and it was agonizing, PLUS he was dealing with feeling so sick with the fever.
GRRRRR.
OMG I was so upset when I got there this morning.
However the nurses were mostly very commiserative, and finally he got transferred into a private room which is so much better. He had a echocardiogram and it confirmed that his heart was ok.
Tomorrow he will have another test to see about the electrical workings.
His fever is now gone and the antibiotics obviously working as by the time his son came up this evening H was actually sleeping normally (although they kept coming in to take blood etc)
So what a day. I sure hope he sleeps through the night!
