I got phoned from work this morning as I was still off work.
I still sound dreadful (although I am feeling much better, I have a ways to go before I am completely over this virus; it has been a BEAST)
My boss was on the line and asked me first of all how I was and then (sounding shocked) asked me if I had ,”gone to my doctor”.
Hmm what for? I am getting better and simply do NOT run to the Dr for something like this(or most things, in fact)
So many people seem to, it is pretty shocking and it is simply a increased burden on our already faltering health care system. (In fact going to the Dr’s or ER for a simple virus is definitely not a responsible thing to do..)
Ok, I understand if a child is ill, it would be a different issue but at the same time, there are so many illnesses that the Dr cannot, “cure”, by prescribing antibiotics because antibiotics for ONE do not work on virii, and TWO if everyone took them at the drop of the hat the bacteria would(and does) mutate into very vicious strains, which are impervious to all panceas.
So then she continued, that I would have to bring a note in on Monday from my Dr(or any Dr, as I hastened to tell her that my own MD would certainly not have any appointments available at such a short notice).
Another foolishness, but one I can understand, as any business operates in this fashion. My illness is legit so I don’t mind jumping through the hoops; it means that I will be paid for the sick time rather than no money at all)
BUT then I had to go to the clinic and waste the Dr on call’s time there by asking for the note. He in turn of course had to check me to ensure that I hadn’t the actual plague etc.
I was very surprised to not be charged for the note, as I have in the past.
