iphone antics

I have an iphone and just love it. We were able to upgrade last year for free , so I went from what was essentially a 2g cell phone with no computer type capabilities, to the iphone which is like a mini computer/ gaming device, phone, etc etc…

I also have an ipad which is terrific, but for travel and convenience, the iphone is the best.

When we were on holiday , one night about 2 o clock in the morning, I was awoken by a, “CLANG!!!”

It sounded like a very loud bell and in my stupour, I though it was our noisy neighbour coming home and being inconsiderate by letting her clock chime loudly outside our door…lol I lay there, and listened to the “clang” sound over and over, and thought, “wow, how very rude”…lol

Now, yesterday, I was in our kitchen and hear the same sound again. “CLANG”!!!!! “CLANG”!!!! “CLANG”!!!

It sounded very close. I thought that it was the stove;  looked at it, then at the microwave..both were not flashing their displays or acting strangely. I looked at the house phone; again nothing…

Then I thought to look at my iphone which was in my pocket, as I was expecting a call. Sure enough, there was text…(can you tell that I NEVER text)

So we had a good laugh about me freaking out so many weeks before…(AND I IMMEDIATELY  turned off the default noise; lol)

Using iPad and word press

Word press has just updated it’s app for use with the iPad ; it’s about time!
So now it seems better and more stable and I am definitely loving being able to blog quickly with few intermediate steps.

As I am not able to utilize a computer the iPad is the next best thing; it’s compact, light and for it’s size, amazing in it’s ability to do so many things. Internet use is basically the same, as is email, and one can enjoy ones music throughout.

My only two regrets are, one cannot “multitask”; it is impossible to have the browser open and then say, check emails…
The other is, one cannot view a lot of things or play games ( the regular way) as there is no support for flash programs, and apparently this remains true for the newer iPad version.

The great thing about it though is there is basically no way for one to get a virus, as there are no files or otherwise no computer like processes, so the would be hacker is at a loss…
Hooray!

I have a webcam!

I am pretty excited, about this(old hat for everyone on the earth, I am sure) but I have a web cam! It is included with my Son Vaio computer and I had the hardest time trying to find out how to work it, until I was on YouTube and saw several people had posted experimental videos of THEM discovering THEIR Sony vaio cameras…lol!

It is shocking how UN photogenic I am; I look less beautiful than I fondly believe. (I am joking, but not about not being photogenic; I simply do NOT have the angular thinish faces that the cameras love.

No matter!

One day I will post a video and everyone can see who I am after all these years(blogging since 2007! Can it be???)

So keep posted, it may happen one day SOON!

chrome better than Firefox???

I was surprised to see that the browser(Google) Chrome was installed on my Sony Vaio desktop (my new computer) and at first was thinking of getting my old fav Firefox installed again; BUT!

I actually LIKE Chrome BETTER!

It doesn’t crash all the time, has all the same bells and whistles as Firefox(at least I have looked and there seem to be a tons of addons but I haven’t added any but an ad blocker)

I have been delighted with this browser; it’s fast, easy to use and definitely less bogged down.

Many others have already said that they find Chrome is better but I was reluctant to abandon Firefox(WHY, I ask myself?)

I am here on my new computer

Yowza it is wonderful. Clear, quiet, smooth and impressive.

SO much to explore and learn.

The geek squad guy was great; we were both impressed at how professional he was(at only 22!) and how through. He not only installed our computers but also hooked up the printer and oh yes, before EVERYTHIING, he took our old computers apart and removed the harddrives so that we could destroy them(only takest a nail driven  through to render them useless to any hacker..

Phew, tired now!

We will have fun the next long while!
