super moon; did you see it?

Did you see the super moon last night? This was one of rare times when the moon is very close to the earth(it called when the moon is in perigee) and I did get up to see it, here, about 11 pm(ashamed to say, that even on the weekend, I go to bed around 10pm, lol.)

It was SO bright, that our whole living room seemed to have a spot light trained upon it, and even to look at the moon was almost too much to take, as if one was looking into the sun, instead…

It was amazing, but I  didn’t take a photo,, am instead, “borrowing” from some awesome photos posted on the weather networks site……

It was an event that had people right across Canada reaching for their cameras.

On Saturday night, the moon was just 357,000 km from our planet – the closest it will get until 2014 – and about 30,000 km less than it’s average distance from Earth.

For observers, that meant that the moon appeared about 16% larger and 30% brighter than other full moons of the year.

It’s what’s known as the “supermoon,” and it caught the attention of thousands – especially those lucky enough to have clear skies during the event.

“Conditions were ideal across many parts of Ontario and Quebec, parts of the Maritimes and British Columbia,” says Dayna Vettese, a meteorologist at The Weather Network. “There was a little more cloud cover in the Prairies and Newfoundland.”

If you got clouded out on Saturday night, astronomer and “night sky guy”Andrew Fazekas suggests watching Sunday night, too. He says the moon should still look great just past its full phase.

The best time to catch the sky show is just after local sunset – looking towards the eastern horizon as the Moon rises. The silvery orbit will probably appear unusually big while near the horizon – a visual illusion, making it an even more impressive sight and photo opportunity.

How about you, did you see it?

the moon and why some days are just NOT as good as others…

So I will let you all in on a little secret; if I am planning

to make a purchase that is major I will always check to see if it is a fortuitous day for such activities, or not.  I check with Georgia Nichols

Here’s her”moon alert” for today..

“We have the “all clear” today to shop (whether you spend $10 or $10 million) and make important decisions (except for one hour, from 1:15 PM until 2:15 PM EDT today). The Moon moves from Leo into Virgo at 2:13 PM EDT today; and the New Moon is at 11:04 p.m. EDT.”

Now I am sure this seems totally crackers, but think back;

Have you ever been out , making a purchase, even just shopping for groceries, and somehow your mind couldn’t concentrate? It was more than just having daily worries or distractions, it was more like you could not DECIDE about the simplest choice;

chicken or fish,

which type of coffee, what cereal, and on and on…

OR you were perhaps doing something major, like  renting a suite and having prospective tenants come to view the place. You had perhaps three or four people come to view one afternoon, and somehow could NOT decide which one seemed ideal.

THAT is all because of the moon’s phase that day. It was simply NOT an ideal day.

Sometimes, obviously  you have to struggle through, as it’s not practical to abandon ones’ grocery cart and slink back home to hide under the bed until a better day.

But for the BIG stuff, it might be better to reschedule…

I have a webcam!

I am pretty excited, about this(old hat for everyone on the earth, I am sure) but I have a web cam! It is included with my Son Vaio computer and I had the hardest time trying to find out how to work it, until I was on YouTube and saw several people had posted experimental videos of THEM discovering THEIR Sony vaio cameras…lol!

It is shocking how UN photogenic I am; I look less beautiful than I fondly believe. (I am joking, but not about not being photogenic; I simply do NOT have the angular thinish faces that the cameras love.

No matter!

One day I will post a video and everyone can see who I am after all these years(blogging since 2007! Can it be???)

So keep posted, it may happen one day SOON!

chrome better than Firefox???

I was surprised to see that the browser(Google) Chrome was installed on my Sony Vaio desktop (my new computer) and at first was thinking of getting my old fav Firefox installed again; BUT!

I actually LIKE Chrome BETTER!

It doesn’t crash all the time, has all the same bells and whistles as Firefox(at least I have looked and there seem to be a tons of addons but I haven’t added any but an ad blocker)

I have been delighted with this browser; it’s fast, easy to use and definitely less bogged down.

Many others have already said that they find Chrome is better but I was reluctant to abandon Firefox(WHY, I ask myself?)

LOTS of visitors

I am sure many would not believe me but I have been getting lot of visitors again.  Today I had 45 visitors and it was just a usual day; but the average has been about 60-70. Amazing.

No, I don’t get many commenters, because the average reader is accessing my blog through a blog reader, and will simply not have time to comment on all the post she/she reads.

I was going to try to save the stat chart to post on here, but as it is a flash application, it couldn’t be done.

I have noticed that the post most popular is this….

248 views alone for this one post.

Thank you visitors, but I would love a simple hello sometime!

Have a great weekend all!
