From our recent Hawaii holiday

We were in Hawaii in February and March; had, as always, a great low key and relaxing stay. We have been going for so many years that truly, we feel like locals. We don’t do any tourist stuff but simply have early walks, then beach mornings, and lazy afternoons…

Oh yes, and shopping of course; lots of looking and looking but not really purchasing anything; lol

This photo was taken on one of our early morning walks…

Lots of visitors!

I am getting lots of visitors to this little blog; you would be surprised to see my “stats” graph; it is quite amazing. Today, alone, I have 67!

I am most gratified; and will tell you that the most popular search which has been bringing the visitors SEEMS to be from a meme where I mentioned

11-cinque-terreCinque Terre,Italy

(a gorgeous coastline series of 5 little villages, all connected by a wonderful walkway) I said that I wanted to go there, and obviously somewhere in the world, this area has been discussed, possibly in the media.

THIS post is the one most favoured(as it is the one mentioning the Cinque Terre)

I have noticed it for SOME time(ie the fact that I was having lots of visitors) but would be even HAPPIER if I had more commenters…but that’s ok, I am still happy….

Keep on visiting!

:)

Funny but successful day

This was a funny day; the beginning was, anyway.

I had thought that it was H’s birthday, and was pestering him with requests of a desired itinerary(the birthday boy, after all) He was laconic(but also thought that it was his day)

THEN we looked at a calender and realised that tomorrow was the day to celebrate! LOL.

Then we started thinking about what we wanted to do for Christmas. We have been in town the past two years and were both feeling like it would be good to, “get away”.

So we began the usual search at all of the travel sites online; expedia tending to remain the favourite.

In short we are going to Vegas for the Christmas week! We are going on a DIRECT flight(which will only take us two and half hours(rather than 10 hours total, comprised of short flights then hours waiting for the connection..)

We are both excited, as we both love going there(me, not to gamble but to window shop and just enjoy being in a new local while H will play a bit of blackjack(at which he is a modest player, with a strict monetary limit)

Then in between, we will stroll around, view the new sites, people, eat good meals and enjoy staying in a hotel!

After we had finalized our trip details we had to rush, as we were supposed to pick my mom up to go for lunch.

When we got there, we found that my sis wanted to come with us which was nice. We had hoped that the new nearby Bistro was open but sadly it doesn’t open on the weekends(weird) so we had to settle on the good restaurant we often frequent with with my Mom.

After a good lunch, I dropped H off to visit with his brother while I came to the library…

Now I am TRYING to remember the name of an author of a book that looked terrific while we were browsing in a bookstore with my Mom…

Last day of autumn trip

Our last day in San Diego we decided to go shopping in an outlying area so took the trolley and then the bus(fabulous system)

We went to Ross(which is one of my fav stores in the US. We have it’s sister outlet called,”Winners“; both are owned by TJ Maxx, but Ross is superior)

We both got great deals on badly needed suitcases (we had the same small ones that we travelled in Europe with, back in 1996 and they both were needing to be retired)

san-diego-trolley-400wAfter that we headed back into town but H had the brilliant idea of staying on the trolley to “see where it went” so we did; all the way to the Mexico/US border!

Trolley map

796px-Coronado_Bridge_1This was really fun, we got to go underneath the bridge connecting Coronado (we went to this wonderful place last time and then got to see the countryside further south.

BL-San-Ysidro-04The final stop was SanYsidro(with Tijuana on the other side)

We didn’t get out but enjoyably people watched until it was time to head back(at which point we switched our seats so we were facing the front; I cannot stand travelling looking backwards..lol)

Autumn trip continued(part 6)

pacificbeach10On the morning after our soujorn to the San Diego zoo we decided to relive memories and take a trip out to Pacific Beach; LOVELY area of open seas and endless sand and sunshine.

We took the “trolley” to “Old Town” then transfered to a bus which whisked us up the coast, past Mission Bay and Seaworld until the beach was sighted.

It was wonderful to stroll along the causeway and to remember our stay here I guess closer to 7 years ago.

We saw Ocean Park Inn.(which had been hideously expensive and not very nice apart from the fact that it was situated so ideally right on the beach.

If you plan to go to San Diego, don’t stay there, tempting as it might seem.

We found the staff surly and unfriendly, and the breakfast was nothing but a little table with ‘serve yourself’ sweet buns and indifferent coffee served in paper cups.

We then trotted enjoyably along the sea cause way and came across a VERY nice seafood restuarnt called World Famous and we could sure see why!

We sat out on the very nice deck overlooking the causeway and beach and feasted upon (you guessed it) gorgeous halibut and chips. YUMMY!

Then a short stop at the excellent Ralph’s grocery store, before heading home..(back to our hotel)
